Cairns is a city on the east coast in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. It is located towards the Far North Queensland area. Cairns is the 5th-most-populous in Queensland and holds the 14th position overall in Australia. Home to 152,000 people, it is also a very popular place to visit especially people who enjoy coastal living at its best. It has wonderful World Heritage Listed playgrounds nearby, quiet streets, beautiful tropical weather, warm waters and a very relaxed lifestyle. It really isn’t too hard to guess why people come here during holidays and fall so much in love with it that they end up settling here for life.

According to a report published by Tourism Australia, the Cairns region is the fourth-most-popular destination for international tourists in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Although the city does not rank amidst Australia’s top 10 destinations for domestic tourism, it attracts a prominent number of Australian holiday makers in spite of its distance from major capitals. Cairns is exposed to a tropical climate, specifically a tropical monsoon climate under the Köppen climate classification. A wet season with heavy monsoonal downpours runs from November to May, with a relatively dry season from June to October, though light showers can occur during this period. University and Tertiary Education is available to everyone irrespective of their background and age. Cairns has relatively smaller campuses and classrooms which is a boon for students has they get a lot of attention which fosters their learning and growth.

Cairns is also great place to get away from studies at time and experience a relaxed vibe and some great rainforest and ocean. Cairns’ university and tertiary education facilities offer most of the usual courses but there are courses and degrees that stand out which are particularly aligned to the natural environment or career opportunities in the area. James Cook University Cairns has one of the most reputed research and education facilities looking into study on the tropics and Far North Queensland TAFE has the Maritime Academy which offers training courses covering all of the marine industry.
