ABOUT
  • Visiting family or friends
  • Be here as a tourist, cruise, or for purposes other than business or medical treatment
  • Can study for up to 3 months
  • Parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents can be granted a visa longer than 12 months, determined on a case by case basis.
STAY
  • Up to 12 months
  • Generally stay period of 3 months, but might be granted a stay of up to 12 months in certain circumstances
  • Could be granted with single entry or multiple entries

Sponsored Family Stream

Visitor visa (subclass 600)
ABOUT
  • This visa allows people who are sponsored, usually by a family member, to come to Australia to visit their family members
  • Be here as a tourist, for a cruise or for any purpose except business or medical treatment
  • Can study or train for up to 3 months
STAY
  • Up to 12 months
  • Determined on why you want to stay and how long you want to stay
  • Generally granted with only one entry permitted
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must have a sponsor, can be either a family member in Australia (Australian citizen or permanent resident) or an Australian government official
  • Intention to come to Australia to visit only
  • Have enough money for your stay in Australia
  • Not work in Australia
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Have health insurance

Frequent Traveller Stream

Visitor visa (subclass 600)
ABOUT
  • For citizens of the people’s republic of China who travel to Australia often for business or personal reasons
  • Be a tourist, cruise or have a holiday
  • Visit family or friends
  • Undertake business visitor activities
STAY
  • Can be granted for up to 10 years
  • Can enter Australia as often as you like while the visa is valid
  • Can stay up to 3 months each time you enter
  • Can stay for 12 months in total in any 24-month period
ELIGIBILITY
  • Hold a passport from and be a citizen of the People's Republic of China
  • Have enough money to support yourself while you are in Australia and while you leave Australia at the end of your stay
  • Intention to come to Australia to visit only
  • Meet health and character requirements

Visitor visa (subclass 651)
ABOUT
  • Visit Australia has often as you wish within a 12-month period. Stay up to 3 months each time you enter Australia.

  • Study or train for up to 3 months, in some circumstances
STAY
  • Up to 12 months
  • Can stay up to 3 months at a time
  • Granted with multiple entry
  • Can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you want while it is valid
  • Visa starts on the day it is granted.

First Working Holiday visa

Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)
ABOUT
  • Allows people 18-30 years old have their first extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip.
  • Can do short-term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday
  • Can study for up to 4 months
STAY
  • Can stay in Australia for up to 12 months
  • Can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you like in that 12 months (Time spent outside Australia after your visa starts does not extend the visa)
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of these countries/jurisdictions (Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)
  • Have enough money
  • Meet health and character requirement
  • Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens who can be 18 to 35 (inclusive)
  • Not be accompanied by dependent children
  • Not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 417 or 462 visa

Second Working Holiday visa

Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)
ABOUT
  • Allows people 18-30 years old who currently hold, or who have held, a working holiday visa, have a second working holiday in Australia
  • Can do short- term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday
  • Can study for up to 4 months
STAY
  • Can stay in Australia for 12 months
  • Can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want (Time spent outside Australia after your visa starts does not extend the visa)
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of these countries/jurisdictions: (Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)
  • Must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens who can be18 to 35 (inclusive)
  • Hold or previously have held one Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) and have complied with all the conditions on your first Working Holiday visa
  • Have enough money
  • Meet health and character requirement
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

Third Working Holiday visa

Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)
ABOUT
  • Allows people 18-30 years old who currently hold, or who have held, a second working holiday visa, have a third working holiday in Australia
  • Can do short- term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday
  • Can study for up to 4 months (17 weeks)
STAY
  • Can stay in Australia for 12 months
  • Can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want (Time spent outside Australia after your visa starts does not extend the visa)
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of these countries/jurisdictions: (Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)
  • Must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens who can be18 to 35 (inclusive)
  • Hold or previously have held second Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) or a bridging visa that came into effect when your second Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa expired
  • Must have completed 6 months of specified work while on THEIR SECOND working holiday visa

First Work and Holiday visa

Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462)
ABOUT
  • Lets people 18-30 have an extended holiday in Australia and work to help fund their trip

  • Can stay in Australia for up to 12 months
  • Can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you like in that 12 months

  • Lets people 18-30 who currently hold or have held first work and holiday (subclass 462) visa, have a second working holiday in Australia

  • Can study for up to 4 months
STAY
  • Can stay in Australia for up to 12 months
  • Can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you like in that 12 months

  • To make general business or employment enquiries
  • To investigate, negotiate, enter into or review a business contract
  • Take part in a conference or trade fair
  • Can't be paid by the organisers to take part
  • Can't work or sell goods or services
STAY
  • Might be granted for up to 12 months
  • Can stay up to 3 months
  • Determined case-by-case depending on how long you want to stay and why you want to visit Australia
  • Could be granted with single entry or multiple entries
ELIGIBILITY
  • Perform business visitor activities
  • Be a genuine visitor
  • Have enough money
  • Meet health and character requirements

Medical Treatment visa

(subclass 602)
ABOUT
  • This temporary visa is for people to travel to or remain longer in Australia for medical treatment
  • Also for people who are donating an organ
  • Can come to Australia for medical treatment or to support someone needing medical treatment
  • Can study for up to 3 months (or longer, if you meet the exemption criteria)
  • Can’t work under this visa
STAY
  • Decision based on situation
  • Can stay in Australia until the treatment plan or consultations are finished
  • Could be granted single entry or multiple entries to Australia depending on your situation
ELIGIBILITY
  • Be in one of these situation
    1. Intend to have medical treatment or consultations in Australia
    2. Intend to donate an organ to someone in Australia
    3. Intend to support a patient or organ donor who holds or is applying for this visa
    4. Intend to receive an organ from someone who travels to Australia with you
    5. Intend to come to Australia under the arrangements between the Western Province of Papua New Guinea and the Queensland Department of Health
    6. Be in Australia, aged 50 years or older, been refused an Australian permanent visa on health grounds only and are unfit to depart Australia
  • Not have a medical condition that could be a threat
  • Not hold particular visas

  • Be a genuine visitor
  • Arrange for payment of medical treatment
  • Not have had a visa cancelled
  • Comply with all visa conditions and follow Australian laws
