  • Visit Australia to participate in a course of study
  • Can participate in an eligible course of study in Australia
  • Can bring family members(partner or you and your partner’s dependent child) with you
  • Can travel in and out of Australia
  • Can work up to 40 hours every 2-week period once your course starts
STAY
  • Up to 5 years
  • The type of course and its length will determine the length of stay
ELIGIBILITY
  • Be enrolled in a course of study in Australia and provide evidence
  • Hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), or fall in one of the exemption categories
  • Prove you have a welfare arrangement, if you are under 18
  • Meet English language requirements
  • Have enough money for your stay
  • Be a genuine temporary entrant
  • Meet health and character requirement
  • Sign Australian values statement
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
  • Have not held a certain visa
  • If you have one of these visas, you can't apply for this visa while you are in Australia:
    1. Domestic Worker (Temporary) Diplomatic and Consular visa (subclass 426)
    2. Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or consular) stream
    3. Diplomatic (Temporary) visa (subclass 995) – primary visa holder only. A family member of a Diplomatic (Temporary) visa (subclass 995) can apply for a Student visa in Australia
    4. Transit visa (subclass 771)
    5. Visitor visa (subclass 600) in the Sponsored Family stream or in the Approved Destination Status stream

Student Guardian Visa

ABOUT
  • Visit Australia to support a child who holds a student visa
  • Allows a person to provide care and support for a student visa holder who is under 18
  • In special situations, this visa allows a person to provide care and support for a student visa holder who is 18 or older
  • Can care for more than one student
  • Can study an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) for less than 20 hours per week, or any other study or training for no more than 3 months
  • Cannot work
STAY
  • This is a temporary visa, length is determined based on the student visa holder’s stay and their age.
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be the student's parent, custodian or relative who is 21 years or older
  • Must have enough money to support yourself and the student during your stay
  • Must be able to provide accommodation, welfare and other support
  • Must have adequate health insurance
  • Be a genuine temporary entrant
  • Meet health and character requirement
  • Sign the Australian values statement
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

Training Visa

subclass 407
ABOUT
  • This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a classroom-based professional development training program in Australia
  • Not for people who primarily want to work
STAY
  • Up to 2 years
  • Can leave and re-enter Australia on the visa while it is valid
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must have an approved sponsor
  • Be nominated to participate in a program of occupational training
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Have adequate health insurance
  • Have functional English
  • Hold an eligible visa
  • If you are applying in Australia, you must currently hold a valid temporary substantive visa that is not a:
    1. a Subclass 403 (Temporary Work (International Relations) visa in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular stream) or
    2. a Subclass 771 (Transit) visa or
    3. a Special Purpose visa
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Be a genuine temporary entrant
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or refused
