  • Can attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program

  • Temporarily, until the decision on your permanent Partner (Migrant) visa (subclass 100) application is made or the application is withdrawn

Partner (Migrant) visa

  • The visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, live in Australia permanently
  • It is usually granted to people who hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 309).
  • Can live, work and study in Australia indefinitely
  • Can sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia

  • Can travel to and from Australia for 5 years If you want to travel after the initial 5 year travel facility: * you will need to apply for and be granted a Resident Return (RRV) so that you can re-enter Australia as a permanent resident

Prospective Marriage visa

Subclass 300
ABOUT
  • This visa lets you come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for a Partner visa
  • Can work in Australia
  • Can study in Australia at your own expense
  • Can include members of the family unit in your application

  • 9 months from the date of visa grant
  • Can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want while the visa is valid

  • Parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents can be granted a visa longer than 12 months, determined on a case by case basis.

New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa

Subclass 461
ABOUT
  • This visa is for a person who is not a New Zealand citizen but is a member of a family unit of a New Zealand citizen
  • It lets you live and work in Australia for five years
  • Can include Members of the family unit in your application
  • Can apply again if you want to stay longer
STAY
  • This is a temporary visa. You can stay in Australia for 5 years
  • Can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want while the visa is valid

  • Must not be a New Zealand citizen
  • Must be one of the Members of the family unit of a New Zealand citizen or their partner

    ABOUT
    • The visa stream lets a person aged 18 years or older do temporary full-time domestic work in Australia in the household of someone who holds a Diplomatic (Temporary) visa (subclass 995)
    • Can work in Australia for the time your employer is posted to Australia
    STAY
    • Your first visa is usually valid for a stay of up to 12 months.
    • A further visa is usually valid for the length of your employer’s posting to Australia.
    • You can stay until the time mentioned in your visa grant notice

    Privileges and Immunities Stream

    Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403)
    ABOUT
    • This visa stream lets you come to Australia if you have, or expect to have, privileges and immunities under relevant legislation
    • You can stay in Australia on this visa while you are working as an international representative
    • Can bring your immediate family
    STAY
    • You can stay for the time specified in your visa grant letter. This is usually the time you are an international representative with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
    • Can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want while your visa is valid
    ELIGIBILITY
    • Must get a letter of support from DFAT recommending that you should be granted this visa
    • Have, or expect to have, the privileges and immunities listed under the International Organisations (Privileges and Immunities) Act 1963 or the Overseas Missions (Privileges and Immunities) Act 1995

    • Must continue to be employed: * by the employer you were granted the visa to work for

    • Can work as a seasonal labourer in selected industries for Australian employers who can't source local labour

  • This visa allows you to take part in workplace – based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia

  • Be sponsored
  • Be nominated (unless your sponsor is a commonwealth government agency)
  • Be invited (if your sponsor is a commonwealth government agency)
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Hold eligible Visa If you are applying in Australia, you must currently hold a valid temporary substantive visa that is not a: * a Subclass 403 (Temporary Work (International Relations) visa in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular stream) or
    * a Subclass 771 (Transit) visa or
    * a Special Purpose visa
    If you are in Australia and do not hold a substantive visa, your last substantive visa must not have been one of the above visas and your application must be made within 28 days:
    1. after the last substantive visa you held ceased to be in effect or
    2. after the day you were notified of the Administrative Appeal Tribnual's decision to set aside and substitute the decision to cancel your substantive visa, or the Minister's decision not to revoke the cancellation of your substantive visa.
